Is my sixth grader allowed to turn in late work?
Yes, up until the unit assessment has been given for that assignment. There is a 25% reduction for late work turned in within three days of the due date and a 50% reduction for work turned in after three days. These reductions are in addition to any points lost for accuracy / quality of the assignment.
How often should I check PowerSchools to view grades? This really depends on your child. Some children need very little supervision while others may need more regular monitoring and encouragement.
Is PowerSchool the best way to stay on top of my child's grades? This will depend on your child. If a child needs a lot of monitoring and encouragement, it's best to use class websites and the weekly blast to stay in front of the work. If in doubt, ask your child to "show" you the completed work, or email the teacher for confirmation.
